Off-Campus

Welcome to the Ornamental Horticulture program of Utah State University taught off-campus.  We  are delighted that you are interested in the field of horticulture.  It is a growing and rewarding field.  Studies indicate that horticulture in Utah is a billion dollar  industry, employing over 25,000 full-time equivalent workers.  Jobs are available in many areas from retail nursery, golf course and turf management, floral shops, greenhouse production to indoor/outdoor landscape maintenance and design.

The Utah State program offers horticulture classes, in the evening in three areas of the state (Ogden / Kaysville, Salt Lake City and Orem,). For the Associate of Applied Science  (AAS) degree program, the horticulture classes are offered on a two-year rotating basis at each site.  The general education requirements and approved electives required for the AAS degree are offered at the USU Off-Campus Centers in Salt Lake City or Brigham City,  by  USU Independent Study,  Weber State Univerity, University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College , Utah Valley State College  All approved classes taken for the AAS degree will also count toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture.

Please print and mail the completed Student Data Form to be added to our student mailing list for one year.  If you are interested in this degree program and have previous college credit, please send a copy of your transcript for evaluation.  We also suggest you apply for admission to USU as soon as possible to facilitate advising, financial aid and graduation.
Several weeks prior to the start of the next semester a schedule will be posted on the Plants, Soils, and Climate (PSC) website giving the times, locations, instructors, and books required for the
up-coming classes.

New students registering for the first time must  register in person at the USU Center in Ogden, Salt Lake City or Orem.  Click here to find addresses for these offices.
